What the Zendesk audit checks

The free audit first tries Zendesk's anonymous Help Center Articles API when the submitted address supports it, then falls back to a bounded crawl of public HTML. It analyzes only articles available to an anonymous visitor, and every finding points back to the evidence that triggered it.

  • Return windows and free-shipping thresholds that disagree across articles.
  • Articles with substantial normalized word or phrase overlap that may be near-duplicates.
  • Visible update dates older than 365 days that deserve human review.
  • Coverage of common ecommerce support topics such as delivery, refunds, payments, and order changes.

Which Zendesk URL should I submit?

Use the public Help Center homepage a customer would open, such as https://brand.zendesk.com/hc/en-us or the equivalent /hc/ path on a custom domain. Starting from an individual article can reduce discovery coverage.

Zendesk exposes title, body, locale, and update metadata for anonymously visible articles. The audit does not treat Zendesk's deprecated outdated field as proof that an article is current or stale.

What the free audit cannot access

The public scanner does not sign in to Zendesk and cannot inspect restricted Guide content, drafts, macros, tickets, agent workspaces, or AI conversation history. A connected DocSanity product is required for private sources and scheduled monitoring, subject to the permissions approved by your team.

A private Help Center, an article restricted to a user segment, an unavailable public API, or a scan safety limit can reduce coverage. The report shows the pages successfully analyzed instead of claiming a complete account audit.

Why content consistency matters for Zendesk AI

Zendesk's own generative-AI guidance recommends reducing redundant, duplicate, and conflicting knowledge. A maintained canonical answer gives customers, agents, search systems, and retrieval tools a clearer source to use.

Clear answers

Questions about this audit.

Can I audit a public Zendesk Guide knowledge base without an API token?

Yes. The free audit reads only the Guide articles available to an anonymous visitor and does not request a Zendesk token.

Will the audit edit or unpublish a Zendesk article?

No. It is read-only and returns review suggestions with source links. Nothing is written back to Zendesk.

Can it scan Zendesk macros and tickets?

Not in the public web audit. Macros, tickets, private articles, and AI conversations require an authenticated integration.

Why are restricted Zendesk articles missing from the report?

Zendesk filters anonymous Help Center access by article permissions. Drafts, signed-in content, and user-segment restrictions are outside a public URL audit.

Does a potential duplicate mean I should delete an article?

No. The signal is based on content overlap. Review locale, audience, product, and policy scope before deciding whether to merge, redirect, or keep both pages.
